BORN HULL 1873. SON OF JAMES CRASHLEY (1843-1916) & ELIZA ANN CRASHLEY (1846-1911), OF 41 WOODHOUSE STREET, HULL.

HE MARRIED MARTHA ARSTAL (1869-1950), ON 11/11/1895. THEY HAD ONE SON JAMES FREDERICK, BORN ON 1/2/1901. THEY LIVED AT 21, LEE SMITH STREET, HEDON ROAD, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
HE ENLISTED IN HULL AS PRIVATE, 20027 EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE 10TH WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 11/02/1917, AGED 44. BURIED ON THE SOMME.
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, AND SON. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 9TH MARCH 1917, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
NOTE HIS SURNAME IS SPELT “CRASHLY” IN CWGC RECORDS.
