BORN HULL 1898. SON OF JAMES GOOCH CULLUM & ANNIE ELIZABETH BROWN OF 7 , WALKER STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). ONE OF FIVE SONS. TRAINED AS A FRENCJ POLISHER. EMPLOYED AT THE HULL RADIATOR WORKS. LAURENCE ENLISTED IN HULL ON 12/05/1916, AGED 18. HE SERVED WITH THE 13TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. WAS SENT TO FRANCE 29/09/1916. KILLED IN ACTION 13/11/1916. HE HAD BEEN IN THE ARMY FOR SIX MONTHS AND IN FRANCE FOR SIX WEEKS WHEN HE DIED, STILL AGED 18. HE IS BURIED AT EUSTON ROAD CEMETERY, COLINCAMPS, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS HE GIVETH HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS”

HIS BROTHERS, JAMES CULLUM, SERVED IN THE 6TH EYR; GEORGE CULLUM, RE’S; ARTHUR CULLUM, EYR; WALTER & ALBERT CULLUM WERE TOO YOUNG TO SERVE.
