HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 17/05/1915, AGED 19 YEARS AND 2 MONTHS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 7 INCHES TALL, 36 INCH CHEST, 132 LBS WEIGHT. QUALIFIED AS A MACHINE GUNNER. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 14/11/1915. SERVED AS LANCE CORPORAL, 11678, ROYAL EAST KENT REGIMENT. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 02/10/1916, AGED 20. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 1 YEAR AND 142 DAYS.
