Curtis, Thomas Marriott

Born Hartlepool, Durham, 1875. Son of Joseph (1837-1919) and Jane Curtis (1844-1924).

Married at Beverley, in 1908. Husband of Mary Ellen Curtis, of 2, Salem Place, Beverley, East Yorkshire (CWGC address). They had a daughter, Josephine, born on 13 Jun 1909.

A Professional soldier. Served as Squadron Quartermaster Serjeant, in the 9th (Queen’s Royal) Lancers. Killed in action. 29 Sept 1914. aged 39.

Buried Longueval Communal Cemetery, Aisne, France. His grave reads “SAFE IN THE HOMELAND”

He left £110 in his will to his widow, Mary Ellen Curtis, at Tidworth Barracks.
