HE ENLISTED AT NORWOOD, SURREY. EMPLOYED AS A DOMESTIC GARDENER. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 30/07/1917, AGED 23. HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE COTTINGHAM WW1 MEMORIAL, IN HALLGATE, COTTINGHAM. ALSO LISTED IN ST BARNABAS CHURCH WW1 MEMORIAL BOOK. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, CLARA DUCKETT, OF 240 KING EDWARDS ROAD, BIRMINGHAM. HIS BROTHER SYDNEY WAS A DECKHAND, AND DIED AT SEA, ON THE 23/10/1917, AGED 27, AND IS BURIED IN HULL. HIS YOUNGEST BROTHER WILLIAM CUTHBERTSON WAS ALSO LOST AT SEA ON 10/03/1919, AGED 19. HIS STEPBROTHER, WILLIAM BRATTON WAS ALSO LOST AT SEA IN 1915 AGED 31. HIS BROTHERS LIVED AT 12 RICHMOND TERRACE, HARROW, STREET, HULL.
