BORN HULL 1883. THIRD SON OF JOHN DALE (1845-1916) & ISABELLA RHODES (1853-1926), OF 16 BRIGHTON TERRACE, OXFORD STREET, HULL, (1911 CENSUS) AND 16 BRIGHTON TERRACE, CUMBERLAND STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). ONE OF EIGHT CHILDREN. A LABOURER. HE WORKED FOR THE EAGLE OIL MILLS, HULL.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 31/07/1915. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 11465, 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE HAD BEEN AT THE FRONT FOR 12 MONTHS. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 12/07/1916, AGED 33. HE IS BURIED ON THE SOMME, AT HEILLY STATION CEMETERY, MERICOURT-L’ABBE.
