Born Blacktoft, Staddlethorpe, Yorkshire, 1899. Son of George (1858-1938) and Martha Thompson Dalton (1869-1942), of Woodfield House, Staddlethorpe, Gilberdyke. He had four brothers and five sisters. Brother of Sarah Dalton (1893-1916). He was a hay cutter and hair dresser. Accidentally wounded in Training (Training Reserve 273rd Bn.). He was standing along side a Lewis gun, which was fired and severely wounded his arm, abdomen and side. Died on site, 30/11/1917, aged 17-18. Repatriated home for burial.
