Dame, William Henry

Born Hull 17 Feb 1885. Son of George Henry Dame (1860-1929) and Mary Elizabeth Elliot (1863-1927), at 8 Grange Street Hull (1911 Census).

Described as 5 foot 8.5 inches tall, 41 inch chest, sober, reliable, intelligent, Church of England religion.

He married Sara Ann Danby (1887-1919), at Harley Street, Registry Office, Hull, on 30 Jan 1915.

Lived at 29 Finsbury Street, Fountain Road Hull (Army address) They had a daughter, Marjorie, born 22 Sept 1915. He worked as a Motor Car Mechanic.

He joined the Roayl Navy on 4 Feb 1915 and left on 30 Sep 1916. He then enlisted in the army on 1 Oct 1915. Joined the Royal Army Service Corps as a Driver and Chauffeur. Served with the 977 Motor Transport Company at Ripon Army camp.

His wife died of Tuberculosis on 12 June 1919. He died on 8 Mar 1921, aged 36. His fathe Georhe became the guardian of his daughter, Marjorie. he was refused a war pension as his illness was contracted after service.
