HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, TROOPER, 2186 EAST RIDING YEOMANRY. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 235386, 1ST LEICESTERSHIRE REGIMENT. DIED OF WOUNDS ON 20/04/1918, AGED 20. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, ANNIE. HE IS BURIED IN FRANCE, AT WIMEREUX COMMUNAL CEMETERY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “NOT FORGOTTEN BY WHOSE AT HOME”
