BORN WINTERINGHAM, LINCS. SON OF THOMAS DAWSON (1851-1908), AND CECILIA TRIPP (1856-1942), OF WINTERINGHAM, LINCS.  HE HAD FIVE SISTERS AND ONE BROTHER, WALTER. EMPLOYED AS A BUTCHER.

HE MARRIED ANNIE OGLESBY (1883-1974), AT GLANFORD, IN 1909. THEY LIVED AT 16 QUEEN STREET, BARTON AND FERRIBY SLUICE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). THEY HAD TWO SONS, THOMAS AND HARRY.

HE ENLISTED AT SCUNTHORPE, LINCS. SERVED IN THE 1ST NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. KILLED ON 23/09/1917, AGED 31. COMMEMORATED ON THE TYNE COT MEMORIAL, BELGIUM. HE LEFT HIS ARMY EFFECTS AND £196 IN HIS WILL TO HIS WIDOW, ANNIE. HE IS LISTED AS A HULL CASUALTY IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 30/10/1917.

HIS ONLY BROTHER, WALTER (1889-1955), WAS WOUNDED AND DISCHARGED FROM THE ARMY, ON 17/07/1917 (SILVER BADGE NO: 135128)
