BORN HULL 1890. SON OF JAMES FREDERICK DEYES (1858-1926) AND PHOEBE WEATHERSTON (1860-1909), OF 7, LORENZO TERRACE, DERBY STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
HE ENLISTED AT HULL, IN NOVEMBER 1915. SERVED WITH THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. WENT TO FRANCE MARCH 1916, WHERE HE WAS WOUNDED TWICE AND INVALIDED BACK TO ENGLAND IN SEPTEMBER 1916. HE RETURNED TO FRANCE AND WAS KILLED IN ACTION ON 21ST MARCH 1918, AGED 28. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL, FRANCE.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 19TH APRIL 1918. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, JAMES FREDERICK.
