BORN HULL 1890. SON OF JOHN WILLIAM DICK (1860-1940) & SARAH AMELIA DICK, OF 52, TRINITY STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS) AND 6, WARNE STREET, SPRING BANK, HULL. ONE OF SEVEN CHILDREN. HIS FATHER WAS A WATER INSPECTOR FOR THE COUNCIL FOR 26 YEARS. HAROLD HAD SERVED IN INDIA FOR SIX YEARS. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 02/04/1915. SERVED WITH THE 1ST BATTALION, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE BATTLE OF THE SOMME, 01/07/1916, AGED 26.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 30/06/1919.
HIS BROTHER, LANCE CORPORAL JOHN CHARLES DICK, 6TH EAST YORKSHIRE PIONEERS, WAS KILLED AT GALLIPOLI, ON 09/08/1915, AGED 31.
