BORN HULL 1896. SON OF THOMAS HAIGH DIMMACK (1860-1902) & SARAH ANN GILL (1861-1915). ONE OF & SEVEN CHILDREN LIVING AT 11 CONWAY TERRACE, STRICKLAND STREET, (1901 CENSUS) AND 38 STRICKLAND STREET, HULL. ONE OF THREE SONS KILLED IN THE WAR. THIS WAS HIS 1918 MILITARY ABSENT VOTERS ADDRESS. PRIOR TO WAR HE WORKED AS A BUTCHER’S ASSISTANT AND FISH WORKER. HE ENLISTED IN THE 12TH EAST YORKSHIRE (HULL SPORTSMEN PAL’S), ON 16TH SEPTEMBER 1914. HIS ARMY RECORDS DESCRIBE HIM, AS 5 FOOT, 5.5 INCHES TALL, 129 LBS WEIGHT AND A 37 INCH CHEST. HE SERVED IN EGYPT. ARRIVED IN FRANCE ON 08/03/1916. TAKEN PRISONER ON 3RD MAY 1917 AT OPPY WOOD, DIED OF PNEUMONIA IN GERMANY, ON 19/10/1918, AGED 22. HE IS BURIED IN GERMANY. UNMARRIED. HE LEFT SIBLINGS GEORGE AND ALFRED, AND SISTERS, ETHEL, MARY JANE AND HARRIET.

HIS TWO OLDER BROTHERS THOMAS & JOHN WILLIAM DIMMACK ALSO DIED IN THE WAR. HIS PHOTOGRAPH WAS PRINTED IN THE HDM ON 7TH MARCH 1919. *
