HE MARRIED MARY JANE WOOLENS (1888-1944), AT HULL, ON 21/06/1909. THEY AND THEIR DAUGHTER, ELSIE, LIVED AT 1, ASH GROVE, DE LA POLE AVENUE, HULL.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 06/04/1915. SERVED WITH THE 13TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT (4TH HULL PALS), IN EGYPT. TRANSFERRED TO FRANCE, ON 08/03/1916. HE WAS THE COMPANY’S LEWIS GUNNER. REPORTED MISSING, THEN KILLED IN ACTION, AT SERRE, ON 13/11/1916, AGED 30. COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING AT THE SOMME.
