HE ENLISTED IN THE 10TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT (HULL COMMERCIAL PALS), ON 07/09/1914. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT 10 INCHES TALL, 150 LBS, 38 INCH CHEST. SERVED IN EGYPT IN 1915 AND IN FRANCE FROM 08/03/1916. AWARDED GOOD CONDUCT BADGE IN THE FIELD, ON 07/09/1916. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 28/06/1918, AGED 22. UNMARRIED. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 3 YEARS AND 295 DAYS. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, ANNIE.
HE IS BURIED AT CINQ RUES BRITISH CEMETERY, HAZEBROUCK. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “THY WILL BE DONE”.
