He married in 1915. Husband of Margaret Ellen Drake, of 12, Rowland Terrace, St Paul Street, Hull (War pension address). They had one son Herbert, born on 18 Jan 1917.
Enlisted at Pontefract. Served with the 5th King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Killed in action, on 27 Sep 1918, aged 25. Commemorated on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial, France.
