HE ENLISTED IN HULL ON 17/5/1909, AGED 18 YEARS AND 11 MONTHS. JOINING THE 4TH EYR TERRITORIALS. TRAINED AT CLEETHORPES, RICHMOND, HALTWHISTLE, SCARBOROUGH. RE-ENGAGED WHEN WAR BEGAN. HE ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 17/04/1915. WAS SLIGHTLY WOUNDED ON 15/101/1915. AT ARMENTIERS. RETURNED TO ENGLAND, WHEN TIME EXPIRED ON 16/05/1916. HE DIED OF FLU AFTER RETURNING FROM BEMUDA ON 15/02/1919.
