BORN HULL 1890. SON OF MATTHEW DRIVER (1858-1931) & THE LATE ADA LOUISE BODILLY (1860-1906) OF 3, DEVON GROVE, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). ONE OF SIX CHILDREN. THREE SONS KILLED IN THE WAR. HE WAS BROTHER TO FRANK, WILL, FRED, MINNIE & MATTHEW.
HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS. SERVED WITH HIS BROTHER, MATT, IN THE 13TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. CAPTURED AT SERRE, ON 13/11/1916. HE DIED AS A PRISONER OF WAR IN GERMANY, ON 19/04/1917, AGED 27. HE IS BURIED AT MONS (BERGEN) COMMUNAL CEMETERY, BELGIUM.
BEFORE ENLISTING. ROBERT’S PHOTOGRAPH APPEARS IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 2ND APRIL 1917. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 15/11/1917.
