BORN HULL 1880. YOUNGEST CHILD OF JOHN & ELIZABETH DUNLIN, OF 61, WALKER STREET, HULL. OLDER BROTHERS TOM AND ARTHUR. SISTERS LAURA AND ELIZABETH. HIS FATHER DIED WHEN HE WAS YOUNG. A TANNER BY TRADE, AT HULL’S HOLMES FACTORY.
HE MARRIED IN 1899. HIS WIFE MARY ELIZABETH CUSWORTH & THEIR SIX CHILDREN LIVED AT 12, ALEXANDRA STREET, HULL.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 09/09/1914, AGED 33. HIS ARMY MEDICAL RECORDS DESCRIBE HIM, AS JUST OVER 5 FOOT, 8 INCHES, TALL, WEIGHING 141 LBS, 38 INCH CHEST, BLUE EYES, AND LIGHT BROWN HAIR. HE WAS INITIALLY POSTED TO THE EAST RIDING YEOMANRY, ARMY SERVICE CORPS. TRANSFERRED TO THE 6TH EYR (PIONEERS). POSTED TO EGYPT ON 30/06/1915. WOUNDED AT GALLIPOLI. DIED OF DYSENTRY, AT ST ANDREW’S HOSPITAL, MALTA, ON 30/11/1915, AGED 35. HE HAD SERVED ONE YEAR AND 83 DAYS.
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW AND SIX CHILDREN. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL TIMES, ON 18/12/1915, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
