BORN HULL 1894. ELDEST CHILD OF RICHARD EDWARDS & BETSEY ASHTON, OF 6, GRANT’S TERRACE, SCARBOROUGH STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS) AND 10, ST ANDREWS TERRACE. MANCHESTER STREET, HESSLE ROAD, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). HE HAD A YOUNGER BROTHER, GEORGE AND TWO SISTERS, HILDA AND ELIZABETH ANN.

HE CAME FROM A FAMILY OF FISH DEALERS.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 23126, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE 1ST NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 08/10/1918, AGED 28.

HE IS BURIED AT FLESQUIERES HILL BRITISH CEMETERY, NORD, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE, READS, “MAY HE REST IN PEACE”.

HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, GEORGE EDWARDS, 38381, 1ST NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS, WAS KILLED ON 13/12/1917, AGED 22 AND IS COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL, FRANCE.

THE ARMY EFFECTS OF BOTH BROTHERS WERE LEFT TO THEIR FATHER, RICHARD. HE HAD LOST HIS ONLY TWO SONS IN THE WAR.
