BORN HULL MARCH 1899. SON OF CHARLES EDWARDS (1865-1948) AND LAVINIA FRETWELL (1865-1911), OF 96, MANCHESTER STREET, HESSLE ROAD, HULL (1911 CENSUS) AND 2, HARROW TERRACE, HARROW STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SON OF A FISH DOCK ABOURER. HE HAD SIX BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS. (THREE SONS WERE KILLED IN THE WAR. HIS MOTHER DIED IN 1911.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 42700, 4TH SOUTH STAFFORDSHIRE REGIMENT. HE DIED ON 18/04/1918, AGED 19. HE IS BURIED AT HARLEBEKE NEW BRITISH CEMETERY, IN BELGIUM.
HIS BROTHERS, CHARLES HENRY EDWARDS AND JAMES ALFRED EDWARDS SERVED IN THE ROYAL NAVAL RESERVE.
