BORN HULL 1896. SON OF (GEORGE) CHARLES ELLIOTT (1861-1938) AND SARAH ANN ELLIOTT SMITH, (1864-1938), LIVING AT 20 TOMLINSON STREET, HULL & 5, NEWINGTON STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD WORKED FOR THE NORTHEASTERN RAILWAYS & SERVED WITH THE TERRITORIALS FOR THREE YEARS. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS A PRIVATE, 1771, 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. WAS SEVERELY WOUNDED AND DIED ON THE WAY TO HOSPITAL, ON 15/09/1916. AGED 20. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WENT TO HIS MOTHER, SARAH ANN. JAMES CHRISTOPHER ELLIOT IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, TO THE 72,390 MEN MISSING ON THE SOMME. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 16TH OCTOBER 1916, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH.*
