BORN BARTON, LINCS., 1894. SON OF JOHN & ANNIE ELLIS, OF PULMAN STREET, HULL. (1911 ADDRESS). ONE OF EIGHT CHILDREN. HIS FATHER WAS A BRICKLAYER’S LABOURER. HE WORKED AT HULL’S IDEAL RADIATOR COMPANY. HE MARRIED ALICE MARIA MAMWELL (1890-1934), AT HULL IN EARLY 1914.

HE ENLISTED HULL. JOINED THE 19TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS (TYNESIDE PIONEERS). DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 07/04/1918, AGED 24. HE WAS UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WENT TO HIS SISTER, SARAH WOODWARD, AT 2, CLEVELAND AVENUE, DE LA POLE AVENUE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

HIS NAME IS ONE OF 46 EMPLOYEES LISTED ON HULL’S “IDEAL BOILERS AND RADIATOR WW1 ROLL OF HONOUR”, NATIONAL AVENUE, HULL.

HIS BROTHER THOMAS WATSON ELLIS SERVED WITH THE CANADIAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE AND SURVIVED THE WAR.
