Born Hull, 1875. Only son of Albert (1846-1925) and Emily Elsom, of 46 Louis Street, Hull (1911 Census); Son of a Head Teacher. He had three sisters, Emily Elsom (never married), Ella and Helen.

Enlisted at Hull. Formerly, 4496, Northumberland Fusiliers and 151706, R.H. and R.F.A. Transferred to the 1/4th KOYLI. Killed in action, on 13/09/1916, aged 42.
He left £461 in his will to his widow, Agnes Annie.
