BORN HULL 1893. ONLY CHILD OF ARTHUR EDWARD ELTON (1867-1947) & ANN ELIZA CURTIS (1872-1941), OF WINESTEAD ROAD, PATRINGTON (War pension Address). A FORMER RAILWAY CLERK.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS A GUNNER IN THE 1ST EAST RIDING , ROYAL GARRISON ARTILLERY. DIED IN SOUTH AFRICA, ON 17/10/1918, AGED 25. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, ARTHUR ELTON.
HE IS BURIED AT ROOIDAM MILITARY CEMETERY, FREE STATE, SOUTH AFRICA. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE PATRINGTON WW1 MEMORIAL AND AT ST PATRICK’S CHURCH THERE.
