BORN HULL 1891. SON OF THOMAS HENRY ELVIN (1859-1933) & LILLIAN ALICE MARY COUPLAND (1860-1931), OF 30, PEMBERTON STREET, HULL AND 700, HOLDERNESS ROAD, HULL. HE HAD ONE BROTHER AND ONE SISTER.

EDUCATED AT HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL. EMPLOYED AS A MERCHANT’S CLERK (OIL AND SOAP).

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, LATE APRIL 1915. A FORMER PRIVATE IN THE EAST RIDING YEOMANRY. POSTED TO FRANCE ON 11/05/1917. COMMISSIONED TO SECOND LIEUTENANT, “C” COMPANY, THE 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, ON 19/04/1917. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 13/04/1918, AGED 27. MENTIONED IN DESPATCHES (MID).
