BORN HULL 16/1/1895. Son of Herbert Elvin and Mary Elizabeth Beecroft, of 16, Clinton Avenue, Manvers St., Hull, England (Canadian CWGC address). Emigrated to Canada at the age of 17. Arrived Montreal, Quebec on 3/09/1912. Lived in Deloraine, Manitoba and worked as a farm hand.
He enlisted in Canada, on 19/07/1916. Killed in action on 15th January 1915, aged 22. His death was reported in the Hull Daily Mail, on 28/01/1917.
