BORN HULL 1882.  SON OF HUGH RICHARD AND MARY ELLEN EMPSON, OF 178, ST GEORGES ROAD, HULL. HE HAD ONE BROTHER, CHARLES WHO LIVED IN PRESTON, HULL AND TWO SISTERS, ETHEL AND DOROTHY THAT LIVED AT HOME WITH THEIR PARENTS.

HE MARRIED AT HULL, ON 6TH JULY 1905, AGED 22. HIS WIFE ROSE ELEANOR (POTTER) LIVED AT 28, REFORM STREET (1911 CENSUS), 4, ABBEY STREET, HULL AND 23, PRYME STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS), WITH THEIR FOUR CHILDREN, HAROLD, MARJORIE, ERNEST AND ROSE. HE WAS A DAIRY MANAGER (1911 CENSUS). HIS ARMY ADDRESS WAS 140, BEVERLEY ROAD, HULL. DECRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 2.5 ONCHES TALL, 126 LBS WEIGHT, 34-36 INCH CHEST, DOOD PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT, CHURCH OF ENGLAND.
