BORN HULL 1895. HULL PAL. SON OF JOHN FALK (1857-1930) & ANNIE LYDIA BURN (1866-1942), OF 89 DAY STREET, ANLABY ROAD, HULL. HIS FATHER WAS BORN IN SWEDEN, A NATURALISED CITIZEN AND SAILOR. HE HAD FIVE BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS. HIS BROTHER, JOHN & WALTER FALK ALSO SERVED AT SAME ADDRESS. A TAILOR’S APPRENTICE AND THEN SAILOR BY PROFESSION. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 4.5 INCHES TALL, 34-36 INCH CHEST, 121 LBS WEIGHT, “FAIR” PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT.
HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS, ON 16/11/1914. SERVED IN EGYPT. SENT TO FRANCE, ON 08/03/1916. WOUNDED IN THE CHEST, ON 08/09/1916. RETURNED TO UNIT, KILLED IN ACTION, AT SERRE, ON 13/11/1916, AGED 21. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 1 YEAR AND 363 DAYS. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL.
