BORN HULL 1899. SON OF JOHN WILLIAM FARR (1875-1951) AND ELIZA NICKLIN FARR (1874-1952), OF  8, ELM TREE AVENUE, WESTMORELAND STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD TWO BROTHERS, CHARLES HENRY AND GEORGE PETER AND FIVE SISTERS, EMILY MARY, HARRIET, JESSE MAUD, MARY AND FLORENCE.

A LABOURER. UNMARRIED. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 5.5 INCHES TALL, 32-34 INCH CHEST, SMALL SCAR ON LEFT LEG, CHURCH OF ENGLAND RELIGION.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 22/5/1916 AGED 18. CALLED UP ON 26/10/1916. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 8266 EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRRED TO THE 14TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY, ON 27/4/1917. POISONED BY A GAS SHELL, ON 27/5/1917.  RETURNED TO UNIT & KILLED AT LOOS, 04/10/1917, AGED 19.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, ELIZA. THEY INCLUDED LETTERS, PHOTO, CARDS, POCKET CASE & RELIGIOUS BOOK.
