BORN BRADFORD 14/02/1881. SON OF JOHN AND ANN ELIZABETH FEARNLEY. ONE OF FOUR CHILDREN. HIS WIFE ALICE & CHILDREN LIVED AT THIS ADDRESS ACCORDING TO NAVY RECORDS. HIS SHIP WAS SUNK BY A MINE ON 12/09/1917, AND HE WAS LOST AT SEA, AGED 36. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HDM – 13/09/1918.
The British trawler Asia was sunk on 12 September 1917 by a mine from the German submarine UC-40 (Hermann Menzel) off Bressay Island. 7 of the crew were killed.
