Born Hull 1888. Son of Bartley Felstead (1856-1938) and Elizabeth Wilde (1860-1923), of 26 West Park Road, South Shields (CWGC address). When Oswald Felstead was born in March 1888 in Hull, his father, Bartley, was 32 and his mother, Sarah, was 28. He had three brothers and three sisters. He worked as an Engine Driver.
He enlisted in South Shields. Served as a Gunner in the 1st Northumbrian Brigade RFA. Posted to France, on 11/11/1915. Killed in action, on 26 April 1916, in France, at the age of 28. His war pension went to his disabled mother, Elizabeth.
