Born Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, 1882. Brother of Mr. A. Findlay, of Poynernook Road., Aberdeen.
Lived with Mother in Law, Mrs Pyper, at 17, New Walk, Beverley and worked as an Inspector Weights & Measures (1911 Census). Husband of Margaret E Pyper, living at 80, Bean Street, Anlaby Road, Hull (War Pension address). They had two children, George Miller and Lily Pyper.
He enlisted in West Hull. Posted to France, on 10th May 1915. Served with the 8th Gordon Highlanders. Killed at Loos, on 25/09/1915, aged 33. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, France.
