HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, DRIVER, 2134. PROMOTED TO LANCE BOMBARDIER, ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. DIED OF WOUNDS, AT THE 150TH FIELD AMBULANCE, ON 22/08/1918, AGED 41. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS SISTER ELSIE M. STANLEY.
