Born Ireland, 1878. Son of Michael and Catherine Flavin, of Mayor’s Walk, Waterford, Ireland. A former plumber and gas fitter. He enlisted in the Royal Engineers, in 1897. Served in the South African Campaign and four years in Egypt. Described as 5 foot, 7.5 inches tall, 130 lbs, 34- 37 chest expansion, hazel eyes, dark brown hair. He died in hull of rheumatic fever, on 12/04/1915, aged 37 after 18 years of army service. He was unmarried and no children. Buried in Hull Western cemetery. Plot reference: 416. 40214
