BORN GRIMSBY 1877. KNOWN AS ‘HENRY FLEMME/FLEMING’, NAMED AFTER BOTH HIS GRANDFATHERS – WILLIAM SPEIGHT & HENRY FLEMME. SON OF HERMANN FLEMME & LUCY SPEIGHT. HIS MOTHER WAS BORN IN WATH UPON DEARNE, WEST YORKSHIRE. SHE DIED AGED 40, THREE WEEKS AFTER GIVING BIRTH TO HER SON ALBERT. HIS STEP MOTHER WAS ELIZABETH ANN (BANNISTER/COOPER), 59 DURHAM STREET. WILLIAM LIVED WITH HIS AUNTIE GERTIE, AT CEYLON STREET. HE WORKED AS A WOOD SAWYER FOR JACKSON & SON BUILDERS, WITHAM.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 27/08/1918, AGED 41. UNMARRIED. HIS WAR PENSION WENT TO HIS FATHER.
HIS DEATH & PHOTOGRAPH ARE REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 11TH OCTOBER 1918.*
HIS THREE BROTHERS SERVED IN THE RAMC AND SURVIVED THE WAR.
