BORN HULL 08/10/1884. SON OF JOHN HENRY FOSS (1858-1890) AND ANNIE FALLON (1858-1919), AT 4, OWENS SQUARE, NEW GEORGE STREET, HULL. HE HAD A BROTHER WILLIAM AND THREE SISTERS, MARIE, AGNES AND ANNIE.

HE MARRIED CHRISTIANA HARTLEY, ON 03/08/1907, AT HULL REGISTRY OFFICE. THEY HAD SIX CHILDREN AND LIVED AT 1, VENTURA PLACE, ALICIA STREET, HULL AND 11, COTTINGHAM TERRACE, CHARLES STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). A FORMER OIL MILLER. HE WAS 5 FOOT, 9.5 INCHES TALL, 155 LBS WEIGHT, 35 -37 INCH CHEST.

HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS, ON 15/03/1915. SERVED IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. TRANSFERRED TO THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGEIMENT, ON 25/10/1916. KILLED BY LOW FLYING AIRCRAFT, ON 29/11/1917, AGED 32. BURIED IN BELGIUM. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 2 YEARS AND 260 DAYS
HIS WIDOW AND CHILDREN MOVED TO 11 COTTINGHAM TERRACE, CHARLES STREET, HULL.

HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE ST CHARLES BORROMEO CHURCH MEMORIAL, JARRATT STREET, HULL.

NB: HIS BROTHER, PTE. WILLIAM FOSS, ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY,  WAS LISTED ON THE REFORM STREET ROLL OF HONOUR.
