Frankish, Clement Roland

Family Grave, Sutton,  which records the loss of Cyril and Clement Frankish in WW1
Withernsea WW1 Memorial, Queens Street. The memorial was erected in 1923 at a cost of £451, the funds for which were collected through public subscription. A service of dedication was held in 1924. Inscribed in four columns, are the names of sixty-four men killed in World War I.

BORN HULL 1893. SON OF HARRY & SARAH ANN FRANKISH (1864-1942), OF 57 SHERBURN STREET, HULL, 41 ARTHUR STREET,  WITHERNSEA AND SUTTON-ON-HULL. YOUNGEST OF FOUR SONS. THEIR FATHER WAS A GROCERY MANAGER. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS A DRIVER IN THE ROYAL IELD ARTILLERY. DIED IN SALONIKA, GREECE, ON 11/10/1917, AGED 24. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, SARAH ANN.

HIS SECOND BROTHER, PRIVATE, CYRIL BERTRAND FRANKISH, 22513, 11TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT ,HAD BEEN KILLED IN ACTION, ON 12/09/1916, AGED  27. THEY ARE COMMEMORATED ON THE FAMILY GRAVE AT SUTTON CHURCHYARD, HULL. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE WITHERNSEA WW1 MEMORIAL.
