Born Hull, 30/08/1871. Son of Caroline Johnson, of 10 Heron Street, Selby Street, Hull (war Pension address).
He joined the Royal Navy, on 29/08/1887, for twelve years. . Left the service on 09/10/1910. Worked as a Sailmaker. He married Ethel Caroline Ansell (1888-1956) at Chatham, Kent on 17/10/1909, aged 38.
Rejoined the Navy, on 21/10/1914. Served with HMS “Pembroke”. Discharged with Tuberculosis, on 04/11/1917. Awarded the Silver War Badge.
Died of Tuberculosis, on 08/03/1919, aged 48.
