BORN HULL 1899. SON OF ALFRED & ANNIE & CHILDREN, OF 156, CLEVELAND STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). PRIOR TO WAR, HE WORKED FOR THE BRITISH OIL AND CAKE MILLS, CLEVELAND STREET REFINERY. HE RESIDED AT 70, EXCHANGE STREET, HULL.

ENLISTED HULL. SERVED WITH THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. A BATTALION HEADQUARTER, SNIPER. REPORTED MISSING ON 25/04/1918 AGED 19. HIS BODY WAS UNRECOVERED AND HE IS REMEMBERED ON THE TYNE COT MEMORIAL.

HE LEFT FIANCEE VIOLET JOHNSON. HIS FATHER RECEIVED HIS WAR GRATUITY. THIS ADDRESS IS FROM THE ABSENT MILITARY VOTERS REGISTER. HIS PHOTOGRAPH WAS PRINTED IN THE HDM ON 22ND AUGUST 1918 AND 7TH MARCH 1919. *
