BORN SUTTON ON HULL 1882. SON OF FRANCIS FURLEY (1852-1904) AND EDITH HUNTINGDON LEVETT (1850-1898), OF “IVY MOUNT”, SUTTON. SON OF A HEMP MERCHANT AND SHIPPING AGENT. HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS. HE WAS EDUCATED AT HYMERS COLLEGE HULL.

HE WAS A SHIPPING AGENT AND EMPLOYER, RUNNING FURLEY & CO, CANAL CARRIERS, BEVERLEY ROAD (1913 KELLYS DIRECTORY).

HE LIVED AT “THIRLMERE”, ON BEVERLEY HIGH ROAD, NEWLAND, HULL, WITH HIS SIBLINGS (1911 CENSUS & ARMY MEDAL CARD ADDRESS). POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 26TH MAY 1916. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 22/03/1918, AGED 35. BURIED AT HANCOURT BRITISH CEMETERY, SOMME, FRANCE.

HE SERVED IN THE 1/4TH EYR TERRITORIALS. ENLISTED AS PRIVATE, 710, 7TH EYR. TRANSFERRED AS LANCE CORPORAL, TO THE 10TH EYR. COMMISSIONED AS 1ST LIEUTENANT, IN THE 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT.
