BORN HULL 1882. SON OF WILLIAM RAYMOND GALBRAITH AND SOPHIA ROBINSON. MARRIED ON 7/11/1902 AT THE PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHURCH, HOLDERNESS ROAD. WIFE EMILY (MARTIN) & THREE CHILDREN, ANNIE, ALICE AND WILLIAM. A FOURTH CHILD ANGUS HAD DIED ON 21/9/1915, AGED 2. THEY LIVED AT 12 LILLIES AVENUE, KENT STREET, 15 STUDLEY STREET & THE ABOVE.ADDRESS FROM THE HULL DAILY MAIL 16/12/16. TWO OTHER CHILDREN DIED YOUNG AND IT SEEMED THEY HAD SEPARATED. HE WORKED AS AN OIL SEED PRESSMAN BEFORE HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS ON 17/11/1914. HE SERVED IN EGYPT FROM 15/12/1915. TRANSFERRED TO FRANCE ON 08/03/1916. HE DIED OF WOUNDS RECEIVED AT SERRE, ON 13/11/1916, AGED 34. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIFE EMILY WHO HAD NOW BECOME EMILY JORDAN. SHE WAS AWARDED A WEEKLY PENSION OF 18 SHILLINGS AND NINE PENCE FOR HER REMAINING CHILD AND SHE MOVED TO 5 SOUTHCOATES TERRACE, BUCKINGHAM STREET AFTER HIS DEATH.
BENJAMIN’S BROTHER WILLIAM GALBRAITH HAD BEEN DISCHARGED FROM THE ARMY AND DIED IN HULL IN 1915, AGED 27.
