Born Bridlington, East Yorkshire. Known as William Galpin. Only Son of Emma Berry (1869-1947) and Jacob Galpin (1870-1948), of 19, Fairfield Road, Bridligton (war pension address). he had two sisters, Dorothy and Mary.
He enlisted in Hull. Served as Sapper, 529Th Field Company, Royal Engineers. Killed in action, on 18/06/1917, aged 20. Commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.
