Glentworth, Joseph Newton

Joseph and Ernest Glentworth, of 68 Wassand Street, Hull. Both killed within two weeks, in 1917.

BORN HULL 08/11/1893. SON OF JOHN THOMAS GLENTWORTH (1863-1909) & MABEL JANE NEWTON (1862-1922). HE HAD SIX BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS. EMPLOYED AS A RAILWAY PORTER. HE LIVED WITH HIS WIDOWED MOTHER AT 31 CARLTON STREET, HULL AND 68, WASSAND STREET, HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 21863, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE 20TH TYNESIDE SCOTTISH. HE WAS REPORTED MISSING, THEN KILLED ON 05/06/1917, AGED 28.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 18/03/1918. *

HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, ERNEST GLENTWORTH, 201563, 7TH EYR, LIVED AT THE SAME ADDRESS. HE WAS REPORTED MISSING, THEN KILLED ON 12/05/1917, AGED 29. HE WAS FORMERLY A FIREMAN, FOR THE WILSON SHIPPING LINE AND LEFT A WIDOW, LILY AND THREE CHILDREN.
