HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED IN THE 223RD ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 02/09/1918, AGED 27.
HE MARRIED ELSIE WARNER, of 1 WOODHALL STREET, STONEFERRY ROAD, HULL, AT SCULCOATES, HULL IN 1915.
HIS PENSION WENT TO MISS ELSIE FROST, OF THE CHANTRY, NORWICH, GUARDIAN OF THEIR SON, JOHN WARNER, (BORN 24/11/1915) AND LATER TO MR EDWARD WARNER, OF 33, ST PAUL STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESSES).
HE IS BURIED AT THILLOY ROAD CEMETERY, BEAULENCOURT, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “NOT FORGOTTEN”.
HE IS COMMEMORATED AS STEPHEN GRANTHAM ON THE CHERRY BURTON WW1 MEMORIAL. AND AS JOHN GRANTHAM IN THE CWGC RECORDS.
