Born Acomb, Yorkshire, 1886. Son of William and Jane Gray, of The Raikes, Hartington, Buxton (CWGC address). Son o a Huntsman. He had two brothers and five sisters. Worked as a Soap Traveller, living at Acomb Kennels, Near York (1911 census)
He enlisted in Hull. Formerly 1792, East Riding (York) Yeomanry. Transferred to the Northumberland Fusiliers, 2nd Garrison Battalion. Died on 20/12/1918, aged 27.
Buried at Netley Cemetery, Southampton.
