Born 13 Apr 1868 • Brixham, Devon, England. Son of Isaac James Green (1837-1871) & Sarah Ann Bulley (1834-1890).
He joined the Royal Navy, on 2 Oct 1883, aged 15. Served on HMS Lion until 31 Jan 1908. Described as 5 foot, 5 inches tall, brown eyes, dark brown hair.
He married Edith Green, at South Shields, Durham, April 1901. He was the Caretaker of Education Officer, Albion Street, Hull (1911 Census & War Pension address).
He re-joined the Navy when war began, achieving the rank of First Class Petty Officer – Gunnery engagements, Royal Fleet Reserve.
Died of Phelibits contracted on active service, at the Royal Naval Hospital, Chatham on 19 Feb 1917, aged 48. Buried at New Cemetery, Gillingham, Kent.
He left £213 in his will to his widow, Edith at the Education Office, Albion Street, Hull (Probate address).
His widow remarried a Chief Officer in the Merchant Navy, on 30 August 1917.
