WORKED A S A LABOURER AND COAL TRIMMER. HE MARRIED, EMMA BLYTHE BATESON, AT HULL, ON 28/03/1998. THEY LIVED AT AT 30 STANIFORTH PLACE, HESSLE ROAD, (1911 CENSUS) AND 2 ANN ELIZABETH PLACE, ADELAIDE STREET, HULL (ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS). HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 17/08/1914, AGED 35 YEARS AND 60 DAYS. POSTED TO THE 4TH WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT.
