HE EMIGRATED TO AUSTRALIA, IN 1911. WORKED AS A FARM HAND. HE ENLISTED IN THE 28TH AUSTRALIAN IMPERIAL FORCE, ON 10/05/1915, GIVING THE AGE OF 21. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 7 INCHES TALL, 140 LBS WEIGHT, 37 INCH CHEST, GREY EYES, AND FAIR HAIR. LEFT FOR ALEXANDRIA, ON 04/09/1915. WOUNDED BY A BULLET IN THE HEAD, AT GALLIPOLI, ON 15/09/1915. EVACUATED FROM THE PENINSULAR. DIED AT 19TH GENERAL HOSPITAL, ALEXANDRIA, ON 22/11/1915, WITH SEPTIC MENINGITIS. HE WAS 19. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, WILLIAM. HE LEFT BROTHERS, WILLIAM AND CYRIL.
