BORN HULL 1893. ELDEST SON OF FRANK GRESHAM (1862-1940) & HELENA PITCHFORD DYSON (1866-1931), OF 63 TRINITY ROAD, BRIDLINGTON AND 32, WESTBOURNE AVENUE, HULL. SON OF A TIMEBER MERCHANT. ONE OF FIVE BROTHERS AND THREE SONS KILLED IN THE WAR. EDUCATED AT HULL, HYMERS COLLEGE. HE WAS A MERCHANTS CLERK IN HIS FATHERS’ TIMBER BUSINESS.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE EAST RIDING YEOMANRY . POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 10/01/1916. TRANSFERRED TO THE 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE DIED ON 16/02/1919, AGED 26.
HE LEFT £249 IN HIS WILL TO HIS FATHER. HIS TWO OTHER BROTHERS ALSO FELL. ALL WERE UNMARRIED MEN AND EAST YORKSHIRE OFFICERS. THEY ARE COMMEMORATED TOGETHER ON THE HYMERS COLLEGE WW1 MEMORIAL.
